Orthodox Links
To put links for all of the wonderful Orthodox sites on the net today would be impossible, but here is a small sampling of some of our favorites:
Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia This is the English home page of the official ROCOR web site.
Eastern American and New York Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. From the site: "With God's help, this website will become a valuable spiritual and informational resource for all the parishes of our diocese. The newly formed Diocesan Media Office will be responsible for establishing and maintaining communication through the website between the administration and the parishes. The website has been designed to reflect the life of our diocese through the eyes of all parishes, big and small. We encourage all the faithful of the diocese to participate in this endeavor by sending in photographs and stories of life from throughout the diocese. God willing, this website will become the unifying link that will strengthen our diocese."
Hermitage of the Holy Cross This is a ROCOR monastery in West Virginia, a precious treasure. Please support them by ordering some of their wonderful incense, pure Znamenny chant recordings, icons, books, and many other offerings.
All Saints Parish Library Web Site This site not only offers a wealth of resources for our own parishioners, but facilitates access of other Orthodox clergy to books, journal articles and other materials needed to conduct their ministry. Further, recognizing the importance of libraries for parishes, the library staff at All Saints provides technical assistance for Orthodox churches to set up and maintain a parish library. There is a wealth of additional information, photos, downloads, and more! Many thanks to all of the Library Staff: Katherine Alderson, Patricia Hardesty, Macrina Quinn, and especially the library’s IT director and webmaster, Nick Maas.
Sites with General Information on the Faith
Orthodox Christian Information Center One of the most comprehensive sites on the Net for information on traditional Orthodox faith and practice.
Holy Trinity Orthodox School on the Internet The Holy Trinity Theological School on the Internet is envisioned as a Theological Extension School to assist and extend the activities of the Holy Trinity Seminary in Jordanville, N.Y., USA. Bishop Alexander (Mileant) of blessed memory, who himself graduated from the Holy Trinity Seminary in 1967 selected the study materials. The site states, "Having as yet no students, teachers or funds, we will in the beginning restrict ourselves to placing on this site texts of the basic theological and liturgical textbooks. This will enable all those who so desire to self-study those subjects of interest to them."
Russian Orthodox Cathedral of St. John the Baptist The home of the Cathedral in Washington, DC, with many offerings about the Faith.
St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church Father Seraphim Holland offers a treasury of information about Orthodox faith and practice.
Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America This site obviously presents the point of view of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, which is not always completely traditional in its outlook. However, there is a wealth of information available on this very well-designed web site.
"Orthodox Christianity.ru" is a comprehensive list of links about Orthodox Christianity.
Prayer as an Important Aspect of our Spiritual Life by Monk Moses. A wonderful article on prayer on the GOA site.
Missionary Booklets from Bishop Alexander (Mileant) of blessed memory.
Frederica Mathewes-Green The author of some wonderful books about her experience as an Orthodox convert, including:
- At the Corner of East and Now:
A Modern Life in Ancient Christian Orthodoxy - The Illumined Heart:
The Ancient Christian Path of Transformation

Bookstores, Online Texts, Liturgical Reference
Liturgical Texts and Resources Father John Whiteford has compiled and maintains a wonderful, comprehensive listing of the many liturgical texts and other resources on the Net, including rubrics for the All-Night Vigil and Divine Liturgy each week.
Chrysostom Press offers two spiritual classics of the Orthodox Christian Faith not previously available in the English language: The Explanation of the New Testament by Blessed Theophylact of Ochrid and Bulgaria, and The Great Collection of the Lives of the Saints by St. Demetrius of Rostov. Their site now has online Blessed Theophylact's commentaries on the Sunday Gospel Lectionary for the entire year, and 27 full length Lives of saints taken from The Great Collection, with five more to be added shortly.
St. Romanos the Melodist Society Father George Johnson and this Society offer seminars, workshops, and liturgical sheet music carefully arranged for the needs of small parish churches. A wonderful resource! (Also see his church: Holy Apostles Orthodox Church)
Light and Life Publishing They claim to be "the world's largest Orthodox supplier," and offer many books and other supplies. Their catalog includes many offerings of traditional Orthodox Christianity, but also some material that is less traditional.
Archangels Books & Gifts is a bookstore in St. Louis, MO, associated with a ROCOR parish. They note that "Many of our products (whether books, music or icons) come from Orthodox monasteries. We endeavor to ... support our Orthodox monasteries and we know that the monks and nuns say the Jesus Prayer while working and everything they do is blessed.
Early Church Fathers a free online offering of the entire 14-volumes of the writings of the Ante-Nicene, Nicene, and post-Nicene Fathers of the Church. This is a wonderful reference, but one must be very careful to separate the ancient texts of the Holy Fathers themselves from the introductory and explanatory material, much of which is from a point of view strongly biased by Western Protestant culture.
Saint Pachomius Library This does not contain the texts themselves but is a Global Index of Orthodox texts on the Web
Ecole Initiative - Early Church History A compilation of texts about the Early Church, some of which are consistent with Orthodox Christianity, but some of which are not.
Orthodox Prayer Book The previous edition of the Prayer Book published by the St. Job of Pochaev Press at the ROCOR Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville. Among other ways this helpful resource has been useful to at least one person is making it quite easy to convert these online texts into a format for the Palm Pilot, making as much of the prayer book as one might wish available at all times, whether traveling or at work, etc..
